Quitting the friends but keeping the mends

I never studied Talmud
I have a few books

I liked the tattoo
That never got much a look

But I never tattooed my soul
And I never drank from a stank bowl

I worked my whole life
I may or may not have had a wife

But the world was not my abyss
And I never studied Gemarrah in depth

I never wore the robes of the rabbi they all wish to become
But I still had my genius thumb.
